How STEINBAUER works

STEINBAUER performance modules work alongside the original engine-management system to deliver additional usable power and torque while leaving the factory ECU software in place.
The operating principle
Application-specific control of the injection signal.
On compatible diesel engines, the STEINBAUER module receives the original injection command from the factory ECU and applies a calibrated extension to the main injection duration when the engine is operating under sufficient demand.
Operating demand assessed
Engine speed, load and the application-specific calibration determine when additional duration is used.
Main injection duration extended
The additional fuel is introduced by extending the existing main injection event rather than changing its factory timing.
More usable torque and power
The engine produces stronger output under demand while remaining supervised by the original ECU.
What stays factory controlled
The original engine-management system remains in charge.
STEINBAUER does not replace the ECU. Factory software, diagnostics, engine-protection strategies and injection timing remain within the original control architecture.
The original software is not permanently rewritten.
Factory timing remains under ECU control.
The module does not increase rail pressure to create its performance gain.
The original ECU continues to supervise operating limits and engine-protection functions.
The vehicle or machine retains its original diagnostic system and software architecture.
The hardware can be removed from the application rather than requiring modified ECU software to be restored.
Diesel operation
Injection-duration optimisation under engine demand.
On compatible diesel applications, STEINBAUER leaves the main injection duration standard at lower engine demand. As load rises, the module progressively extends the main injection duration according to the application-specific calibration.

Why application-specific tuning matters
Different engines require different calibrations.
STEINBAUER applications are developed around the specific engine, factory output, control system and intended use. The same settings are not simply applied across unrelated vehicles or machines.
That approach allows the module to provide useful performance where required while staying within the parameters defined for that individual application.
