Power demand matters
Using stronger acceleration more frequently requires more energy. If additional performance is available and the driver regularly uses it, consumption can increase. If driving behaviour remains similar, the effect can be different.
Range already varies in normal use
Speed, temperature, heating or air-conditioning use, tyre condition, gradients, payload and traffic all affect energy consumption. For that reason, a single promised range change would be misleading.
What about recuperation?
Recuperation can recover some energy during suitable deceleration, but it does not create free energy. Its value depends on the driving situation and on how the vehicle manages regenerative braking at that moment.
