Traditional remapping
On a petrol or diesel vehicle, remapping usually means changing software calibration inside an engine control unit. The relevant parameters can include fuelling, boost pressure, torque requests and other combustion-related controls.
Electric-vehicle development
An EV has no combustion process to tune. Its behaviour depends on the relationship between the motor, inverter, battery, vehicle controllers and software. That means the technical route to changing response, power delivery or recuperation can be completely different.
